Mapped the Bárðarbunga quakes in a 3D model By Stefán Árni Pálsson 19. ágúst 2014 22:45 "My website has seen a lot of traffic, currently I'm counting visits from 62 different countries." Mynd/Aðsend The Icelandic Meteorological Office has made available the data about how deep each quake is, along with their precise co-ordinates, says Bæring Gunnar Steinþórsson, a 24-year old employee of CCP Games. He has set up a website that shows the seismic activity at Bárðarbunga in a 3D perspective. "I get the data from the website apis.is in a form that's easy to work with." The seismic activity around Bárðarbunga is still high, but an apparent lull around midnight only lasted around 4 hours before resuming previous levels. The activity comes in waves, with the biggest quakes coming in the morning hours, all of them measuring under 3 on the Richter scale. Bæring's website shows precisely how strong the quakes are and their depth. Bæring says he thought of making the 3D model when the data was being distributed freely in certain Facebook groups. "My website has seen a lot of traffic, currently I'm counting visits from 62 different countries. There was no deep thought involved, I just wanted to do something cool with this. It took me 5 hours to get the site running."
