FL Group Supports Icelandic Music 10. október 2006 15:53 Garðar Thor Cortes and Barði Jóhannson in Bang Gang will be the first to receive support form Tónvís Musicwise, a new investment fund founded by FL Group. The investment fund will work with Icelandic musicians abroad. Tónvís Musicwise will support Barði and Garðar Thór in promoting and releasing their work abroad. Barði is working on releasing Bang Gang in the US on his label From Nowhere Records, and Garðar Thór is planning a tour in the UK. Tónvís Musicwise will be different from other Icelandic music funds according to Hannes Smárason, CEO of FL Group. "We will help artists bring their music abroad, take the risk with them and gain from it if there will be any profits. Our funding is not just an investment, we intend to bring a certain business plan and follow up on how things are going." Hannes says that the investment fund fits well with FL Group‘s goals in supporting Icelandic music. "Our goal is to support culture and we have focused on music especially. We are the Symphony Orchestra‘s main sponsor, we sponsor the Sugarcubes anniversary concert in November and now this fund." Barði and Garðar are the first artists to receive support from the fund but not the last. "This fund has a life of its own and we will take on more projects. We haven‘t chosen the next artists but will do so during the next weeks and months," said Tryggvi Jónsson, Tónvís Musicwise CEO.
